At Exness, we keep trading costs—specifically spreads—as low as 0 pips, creating a comfortable trading environment for everyone from beginners to advanced traders.Among the five account types offered by Exness, the "Low Spread Account," which features ultra-low spreads, and the "Zero Account," which features zero spreads, incur an additional transaction fee on top of the spread. When trading with a Low Spread or Zero Account, you must add the transaction fee to the spread to calculate the total trading cost.

The trading costs associated with trading on Exness consist of "spreads" and "transaction fees." However, with Standard, Standard Cent, and Pro accounts, transaction fees are waived, allowing you to trade with only the spread as your trading cost.For Low Spread accounts, an external trading commission of up to 3.5 USD (equivalent) applies, and for Zero accounts, a minimum of 0.2 USD (equivalent) applies; therefore, you must calculate your total trading costs by adding the spread and the trading commission together. Trading Cost Spread

A spread is the price difference between the bid (selling price) and the ask (buying price) of a tradable instrument. With Exness’s “zero spread,” there is no difference between the bid and the ask. Since the spread represents a trading cost, the smaller it is, the more advantageous it is for traders.

Spread units: "pips" and "points"

Generally, spreads for all currency pairs traded in FX are expressed in "pips." Since FX involves trading currencies from various countries, such as the USD (U.S. dollar), EUR (euro), and GBP (British pound), stating that "the USD/JPY spread is 0.01 yen"or "The EUR/USD spread is 0.01 cents," the differing units make it difficult to compare the actual spread widths. Therefore, by standardizing the unit to "pips" and stating "The USD/JPY spread is 1 pip" or "The EUR/USD spread is 1 pip," it becomes easy to compare them.

A pip is the digit immediately to the left of the smallest decimal place in a price. For example, in the price 100.123 yen, the pip is the "2."The value of the least significant digit, which is one-tenth of a pip, is expressed in units called "points." While the unit used varies by broker, Exness's MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and MetaTrader 5 (MT5) display spreads in points.

How to Calculate Transaction Costs

Transaction costs are calculated by adding the transaction fee to the spread. However, since the spread is measured in pips and the transaction fee is denominated in currencies such as yen, dollars, or euros, it is necessary to convert the pips into the relevant currency to standardize the units.

How to Convert 1 Pip into Currency

The value of 1 pip is calculated in the currency on the right side of the currency pair, known as the "settlement currency." For example, in the case of USD/JPY (U.S. Dollar/Japanese Yen), the Japanese Yen displayed on the right is the settlement currency.

For cross-yen currency pairs where the yen is the settlement currency, such as USD/JPY (U.S. Dollar/Japanese Yen) and EUR/JPY (Euro/Japanese Yen), 1 pip equals 0.01 yen (1 sen);For dollar-straight currency pairs where the US dollar is the settlement currency, such as EUR/USD (Euro/US Dollar) and GBP/USD (British Pound/US Dollar), 1 pip equals 0.01 cents (0.0001 USD).

In addition, the spread based on trading volume can be calculated using the formula "spread × trading volume."

For example, if the spread on USD/JPY (U.S. dollar/Japanese yen) is 1 pip (0.01 yen), the spread cost for a 1-lot (100,000 units) trade would be 1,000 yen.

Method for Converting Transaction Fees into Other Currencies

All trading fees at Exness are denominated in USD (U.S. dollars). The actual trading fee you pay is the amount converted to your trading account’s base currency at the prevailing exchange rate at the time a new position is opened. For example, if a trading account with a base currency of JPY (Japanese yen) incurs a round-trip trading fee of 7 USD, it will be converted to yen as shown below and deducted from your account.

Exness charges round-trip trading fees when a new position is opened, which are deducted from the trading account when the position is closed. For example, when trading an instrument with a one-way fee of 3.5 USD, a round-trip fee of 7 USD (equivalent) is charged at the "USD/account currency" rate at the time the new order is placed.
