In yesterday's U.S. currency trading, the U.S. dollar rose against the Swiss franc.The USD/CHF pair rose from 0.7782 to 0.7837. On the hourly chart, the price moved from below the 20-period moving average (MA) to above it. On the 4-hour chart, the 200-period exponential moving average (EMA) is acting as a support level, driving the price higher. On the daily chart, the price is currently attempting to break above the resistance line just below the 75-period MA. As the pair is testing the upside slightly during today’s Asian session, we will be closely monitoring price movements during the U.S. session.
European currencies rose against the yen as the euro gained ground following yesterday’s release of January retail sales data for the eurozone, which showed a year-over-year increase of 2.0%, up from 1.3% the previous month.The EUR/JPY pair rose from 182.110 to 183.088. It rebounded from the -2σ to +2σ levels on the hourly Bollinger Bands. On the 4-hour chart, it is attempting to break through the resistance line formed by the 200-period EMA, while on the daily chart, the price is rebounding as the 75-period MA acts as a support line.
